Jennifer Heyer-Olsen
Head Coach

Coach Heyer has over 25 years of coaching experience.  She was the St. Charles High School Girls’ Swim Team Head Coach from 1989-2002, and from 1990-2001 led her team to top 10 state finishes each year, and top 3 finishes 9 of those years.  In 1999, her state team set the record for most points scored at a Girls’ State Meet, and she had a perfect sectional – qualifying all three relays and two individuals in every event for the state meet.  Her 1999 team’s IHSA State Records in the 100 yd Freestyle as well as 200yd and 400 yd Freestyle Relays still stand.  She coached 5 recipients of the Illinois Swimming Senior Swimmer of the Year Award, and several nominees many of the years.  At the same time, she was Head Coach of the USA Swimming/Illinois Swimming-sanctioned St. Charles Swim Team’s Girls’ Senior Team, as well as Assistant Age Group Coach for 9/10 Boys and Girls.  She also assisted with the High School Boys’ Team, 1989 – 1991.  Coach Heyer led St. Charles High School’s Water Polo Team as Head Coach from 1990 – 1995, her team being one of the top 3 finishers in the state 3 out of 6 years.  She was a 9-time Illinois High School Swim Coach of the Year, won 6 consecutive state championships, 1999 National Champions, and has coached several Senior National Qualifiers, Olympic Trial Qualifiers, State Champions, State Record Holders, 3 National Record Holders, and over 75 All-Americans.  Coach Heyer was inducted into the St. Charles Hall of Fame in 2004.  Additionally, Coach Heyer was an Athletic, as well as an Academic, All-American at Lyons Township High School, and again at Michigan State.  She graduated from Michigan State in 1988 and was inducted into the Michigan State Hall of Fame as the Gwen Norrell Hall of Fame Award Winner.  She still swims competitively and is the Wheaton Sport Center Masters Swim Team Head Coach.  Coach Heyer has her master’s degree in administration, Type 75 certificate, kickboxing certification, and is ASCA certified Level 4.  Coach Heyer taught Health Education at St. Charles High School from 1989 – 1998.  Coach Heyer has been the Aquatics Manager for the WSC for two years and is also starting her third season as the Head Coach of the Girls Swimming/Diving Team at Neuqua Valley High School. 

Barb McShane
Aquatics Supervisor & Bronze Coach

Coach Barb McShane, is our Aquatics Supervisor and will coach the Bronze squad this Spring/Summer. Barb swam competitively from age 5 until high school when she stopped swimming because her high school did not have a team.  While in school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she started swimming again because she missed the smell of chlorine and to stay in shape.  She continued swimming while working on her Masters Degree in Non-Profit Management at DePaul University. During this time, she swam with Masters swimming and competed in Masters 1650 races and the Big Shoulders 3 mile swim. She has passed her love of swimming down to her 6 and 9 year old daughters.  They both swim competitively and will join the Stingrays this Spring.  She has been teaching swim lessons at the Wheaton Sport Center for the past 3 years.  She is currently the Aquatics Supervisor overseeing the swim lessons and lifeguards.  In addition to swimming, she teaches religion classes at her church and is a Brownie leader.

Suzanne Simoneau
PreSenior Team Coach

Coach Suzanne Simoneau, a master’s level swimmer and mother of four, will coach our PreSenior team.  Suzanne grew up in New York and has swum competitively since the age of nine, achieving local records in backstroke and freestyle as well as relays.  While in high school, she competed on AAU and YMCA swim teams in addition to teaching swim lessons and Lifeguarding.  She continued swimming competitively while a student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY where she received her Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science.  The Simoneau children have been involved in age group competitive swimming for eight years and three are currently swimming with the Wheaton Sport Center Stingrays.  Suzanne coached the Bronze Squad for the Spring/Summer of ’05, the SilverSquad for the Fall/Winter ‘05-‘06, assisted with the Gold Squad for the Fall/Winter ‘05-‘06 season, and coached the Silver Squad for the Spring/Summer ’06,  Fall/Winter ’06-’07 season, and the Spring/Summer ’07 season.  She also co-coached the PreSenior Squad for the Spring/Summer ’07.   She will continue coaching the PreSenior Squad.

Anna Rossi
Silver Team Coach

Coach Anna Rossi, will coach our Silver squad this Spring/Summer.  Anna swam competitively for 15 years in downstate Illinois, first for the Olympia Swim Team and then for 10 years with the Redbird swim team in Bloomington, where she and her teammates won multiple Junior Olympics and Zones honors. She also swam for Olympia High School, where she at one time held every school record and several conference records.  Anna started lifeguarding, teaching lessons, and coaching in high school.  While in school at the University of Illinois she continued to coach both ISI club teams and summer club teams.  She continued coaching while in law school at the University of Notre Dame, as head coach of the Riley High School girls' team in South Bend, Indiana.  Upon graduating from law school she moved back to downstate Illinois where she worked as an attorney and was an assistant coach for the Peoria YMCA swim team, DOCS.  Anna recently moved to Wheaton after accepting a new job in Joliet, and is very excited to meet the rest of the coaching staff, the swimmers, and their parents, and to begin working with the Stingrays as the coach for the Silver Team!

Juliana Spear
Bronze Coach

Coach Juliana Spear, will also coach our Bronze squad this Spring/Summer. Juliana has been competitively swimming since she was 8. She was on the Wheaton Tidal waves swim team and currently swim for Stingrays over the summer. She is a student at Wheaton North High School and is a member of their Varsity swim team. She has been working at the Wheaton Sport Center since January 07’ teaching swim lessons and lifeguarding. She is currently the Head of group swim lessons and coaches Bronze and Pre-Team.

Jason Campbell
Gold Coach

Coach Jason Campbell will coach the Gold squad this Spring / Summer.  Jason is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University and holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration.  He has been swimming competitively since the age of 6 where he swam for the Decatur Swim Club in downstate Decatur.  His swimming accolades include reaching junior Olympics starting at the age of 8 and then competing in a Zones event when he was in the 11/12 age group.  Jason played Baseball in college while at Illinois Wesleyan where he received all conference honors both his Junior and Senior year.  His competitive spirit continues as he competes in Triathlon events each year and hopes someday to compete in an Ironman event.  He now works for GMAC Mortgage and has been in the finance business for 16 years.  This will be his daughter Madelyn’s first year swimming and his son Wes is only 4, but right around the corner from starting his swimming career.  Jason is very excited about joining the Stingray coaching staff and helping to continue in their future successes.

Katie Bullman
Pre-Team Coach

Katie has been competitively swimming since she was 11 years old.  She first swam for the Wheaton Tidal Waves swim team and then moved on to swim for the B.R. Ryall swim team at the YMCA, the Wheaton Swim Team, Coach Jennifer Heyer, and the Wheaton North High School Co-op swim team, where she swam at the varsity level all four years.  She has been working at the Wheaton Sport Center since October of 2005 teaching swim lessons.  She is currently a sophomore at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana and is working towards receiving a Bachelors degree in both Elementary Education and Exceptional Needs/Special Needs Education.  She keeps busy on the weekends at school by teaching swim lessons as well.
