Group Exercise Class Descriptions

Strength Training

JUST ABS: This 15 minutes class will help develop that washboard look.  Exercises focus on firming and defining the abs and play an important role in maintaining good posture and a healthy back. All Levels

FINAL CUT:  Resistance and repetition body sculpting for all major muscle groups.  This class is designed to shape and define the body. Intermediate/Advance Level

BODY SCULPT: Our popular all-inclusive fully body workout.  Firm and strengthen the total body using a variety of equipment for resistance and functional training. 60 minutes. Beginner/Moderate Level

FLAB: This class combines flexibility and abs in a unique 30-minute workout. Beginner/Moderate Level

Athletic Cardio/Strength

TOTAL CONDITIONING CHALLENGE: This class is the ultimate cross trainer.  We have combined a class of full-body training that alternates intervals of athletic and polymeric drills, sprinting, running, challenging your agility, speed, and strength endurance through an easy to follow-to-follow workout.  This class may also use various group stations! 60 minutes. Intermediate/Advance Level

BOOT CAMP: For those who are anxious to improve and enhance speed, lean muscle mass, stamina and agility. Maximize muscle with this boost camp workout routine using hand weights and one's own body weight for push-ups, ab/back work.  60 minutes. Intermediate/Advance Level

KICKBOX: Burn a ton of calories in this high intensity fun kickboxing class. Easy-to-follow combinations of upper-body strikes, lower-body strikes, blocks and athletic drills for a killer cardio workout.  60 Minutes. Intermediate/Advance Level

CIRCUIT TRAINING: Circuit interval training with lots of twists and surprises.  This class will have interactive circuits that will push and challenge you! All Levels

BANDS, BALLS AND BOSUs: This class blends the best of core fitness with a challenging cardio and resistance workout.  The perfect total body workout. 60 Minutes. Moderate/Intermediate Level

SPIN & ABS: This cycle class will burn a ton of calories, increase lower-body strength and improve your cardiovascular endurance. You will be inspired by music through aerobic endurance intervals, a series of flats and hills, strength and speed play followed by 15 minutes of Abdominal work. 75 Minutes. Intermediate/Advance Level

SPINNING: This 60 minute cycle class will burn a ton of calories, increase lower-body strength and improve your cardiovascular endurance. You will be inspired by music through aerobic endurance intervals, a series of flats and hills, strength and speed play. Challenge the body and refresh the mind. 60 Minutes. Intermediate/Advance Level

SPIN ENDURANCE RIDE: This ride is geared towards increasing your aerobic capacity and improve endurance.  You will be training in Aerobic Development – Zone 2 and Aerobic Endurance Zone 3. Intermediate/Advance Level

SPIN HILLS & STRENGTH RIDE: An anaerobic ride focusing on Zones 2, 3 & Zone 4.  Intervals can be intensive or extensive.  Ride designed to develop muscular strength & power in the legs. Intermediate/Advance Level

Cardio/Strength

TARGET INTERVALS: Join us for a class that features short bursts of cardio, polymeric moves, strength and core work to enable you to experience a challenging yet comprehensive work-out!  Class will incorporate all types of equipment to allow you to work at your highest level of fitness YOU can achieve! Intermediate/Advance Level

TOTAL BODY WORKOUT: Hit all the major muscle groups with this class.  Class format may consist of circuit stations, basic STEP movements, weights and tubing. 55 Minutes. Beginner/Intermediate Level

MIXER: This class will surprise and challenge you with a blend of formats!  The instructor will put together a combination of your favorite class components for an awesome cross training workout. 60 minutes. Intermediate/Advance Level

CARDIO FUSION: This class will alternate intervals of cardio with functional integrated core strength, balance and coordination for a total body workout that will keep you coming back for more. Intermediate/Advance Level

FITNESS FUSION TRAINING: Fitness Fusion Training combines traditional functional fitness and Pilates exercises that focus especially on strength.  Learn a series of innovative exercise and/or posture sequences that work on balance stability and strength. Intermediate/Advance Level

MINUTE BY MINUTE: A fun, high-energy workout that alternates cardio and weight segments for maximum calorie burn.  Upper and lower body and abs will be challenged.  Equipment will include any combination of Step, Dumbbells, BOSU and Ball.  Simple and effective moves; ideal for all fitness levels. Beginner/Moderate Level

50/50: This intermediate class starts off with 30 minutes of cardio followed by 30 minutes of basic strength training and core workout. 60 Minutes. Advance Level

JOG FOR FUN: If you like to run outdoors but are tired of running alone or need some variety to your runs, come join us!  This is a mixed group of runners with various levels or runners. All Levels (Weather permitting)

TEMPO RUN: This run will help you increase your speed by training with other immediate runners. Each run will push you towards your peak performance come race day. 60 minutes. Intermediate Level (Weather permitting)

Choreographic Cardio

CARDIO JAM: Fresh and funky.  A heart-pounding workout to upbeat, hip-hop music.  Learn cutting edge moves in a non-intimidating environment.  Class will conclude with an abdominal workout for maximum results. 60 minutes. Beginner/Intermediate Level

ZUMBA: Zumba combines high energy and motivating music with dance moves and unique combinations from salsa, tango, flamenco, & other international dance styles.  Zumba allows participants to dance away their worries with a workout that is “Fun and Easy to Do!”  Zumba is not only good for the body, but it’s great for your mind. All Levels

Beginner Workouts

GET FIT WHILE YOU SIT: While seated in a chair, you will use arm and /or leg movements to increase and improve flexibility, range of motion, strength and overall fitness. You will see functional improvement in daily activities. 45 minutes. Beginner Level

YOGA STRENGTHENING SERIES: This class is designed for the older population. Gain back that balance and mobility. The class will focus on developing strength and flexibility in the spine. Yoga poses will focus on spinal twisting, forward folding and lengthening the spine. As we develop inner strength, we will also focus on relaxation of the outer shell-neck, upper back & shoulders. Beginner Level

Fitness/Mind Body

BEGINNING PILATES: An exercise discipline of stretching and strengthening movements that focuses on your body's core or "powerhouse".  We recommend you commit weekly as you learn this method. 60 Minutes. Beginner Level

INTERMEDIATE PILATES: Take what you've learned in Beginning Pilates to the next level! 60 Minutes. Intermediate/Advance Level

HATHA YOGA: Come and learn the basics to a Hatha Yoga class. This class will teach breathing techniques and beginning Hatha yoga postures.  Each week we will build upon yoga postures, and develop skills needed to link Hatha yoga poses together in a smooth and flowing way to teach safe, effective, and graceful flow-style yoga classes. 30 minutes. Beginner Level

ASHTANGA YOGA: Ashtanga is a physically demanding version of Yoga that is built upon a set sequence of postures linked in a gracefully flowing sequence designed to open the mind and body.  Come and learn the basics of this practice.  All levels welcome. 

BUFF YOGA: Create long, lean muscles.  This yoga inspired workout will add resistance equipment to powerful yoga poses.  60 Minutes. Intermediate/Advanced Level

VINYASA YOGA: A flowing series of postures linked by breath-synchronized movements (vinyasa) designed to develop body/mind awareness, build strength and endurance and increase flexibility. 60 Minutes. Beginner/Intermediate Level

HOT YOGA: This vigorous yoga class includes a standing, spine strengthening & seated poses in a room heated to 95 degrees.  The heat enables students to deeply cleanse the body, while going deeper into the poses.  Please bring two towels and at least one bottle of water. Intermediate/Advanced

SPORTS YOGA: This yoga class is geared for the athlete or fitness enthusiast seeking to incorporate stretching and toning into their workout routine. 90 Minutes. Advance/Intermediate Level

FLEX FUSION: This efficient total body workout utilizes controlled yoga-inspired movements to build strength, flexibility, muscular balance and core strength.  The perfect union of Pilates and yoga. 60 Minutes. Advance Level

GENTLE YOGA: A slow-paced class focusing on easy stretching and light strengthening, breath work and relaxation adaptable to any health condition. 60 Minutes. Beginner Level

HATHA YOGA: Increase strength and flexibility while you practice breathing and relaxation techniques using this centuries old exercise form.  60 Minutes. Beginner/Intermediate Level

STRETCHED & BALANCED: This class is designed to integrate balance and stability with stretch and deep muscle massage and muscle tension release.  With the combination of fitness core moves and challenging foam roller exercises, you will be getting a multi-faceted and rewarding workout. All Levels

YOGA STRETCH: This stretch yoga class is specifically designed to focus on stretching, conditioning and flexibility through basic yoga moves.  Yoga stretch will give you the benefits of a basic yoga class, and concentrate on breathing techniques and stretching. All Levels

Kids

JUMP FOR FUN: Kids jump, hop, skip and wiggle their way through obstacle courses, aerobic games and running!  Basic concepts on how the muscle groups work together and running techniques will be introduced.  This class is designed for the 4 –6 year old age group. 35 Minutes. All Levels.

Tennis

CARDIO TENNIS: A new fun, group activity featuring drills to give players of all abilities an ultimate, high energy workout.  Taught by a tennis professional. Cardio Tennis includes a warm-up, cardio workout, and cool down phases.  If you are looking for a great way to get  in shape and to burn calories, you must try Cardio Tennis.

Classes with consistent low attendance are subject to change or cancellation.  Wheaton Sport Center reserves the right to change the schedule as needed. Our staff is nationally certified, experienced instructors.  Any classes included in the Group Exercise Program are available to our members at no additional cost.  No registration is required.  Sign up is needed for all Spinning Classes.  The sign up sheet is located at the front desk.  Participants may sign up one hour prior to class.



WATER CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

WATER RUNNING: This class is the perfect cross training option that will offer a high intensity cardiovascular workout while giving your joints a break.

WATER WORKS: Walking, jogging, toning, power moves, resistance training designated for individual needs and deep-water activity using floatation equipment and interval challenges. Terrific for all levels.

BOOT CAMP: For those who enjoy aquatics and are anxious to improve and enhance speed, lean muscle mass, stamina and agility. Maximize muscle with this boost camp water workout routine using the water as your resistance.  Intervals, aqua belts, buoys weights will be used to heat you up in the water! 60 minutes. All Levels
